NECK, PULSATION ON THE SIDE OF
Description and Possible Medical Problems
For people who are tuned in to every minute change in their bodies, anything that even remotely appears to involve either their heart or their circulatory system immediately sends up red flags.
One of these changes may be that the artery in the side of your neck is pulsating more vigorously than it did just a few years ago. Because any change in the circulatory system may indicate the presence of coronary disease or an impending heart attack, your first impulse may be to call your doctor immediately.
There’s no need to worry. An increase in pulsation is a sign that you’re in good health and that your arteries are functioning normally. In addition, any activity that causes your heart to beat faster—such as exercise or nervous excitement—will naturally cause the artery in your neck to pulse faster, too. So relax.
Treatment
If an artery on the side of your neck seems to be pulsating more vigorously lately, it means that you’re healthy and you don’t have to do a thing.
